Geoscientific Collections, Berlin

The geoscientific collections in Berlin have a history of more than 200 years. They cover the fields of mineralogy, petrography, stratigraphy, macropaleontology, and micropaleontology, and include an extensive collection of drill cores (see organization). The collections include numerous special collections. See also publications In German, projects, and "Collection Object of the Month" In German.

As a result of the move from Berlin-Mitte to Berlin-Spandau, the collections received particularly suitable and attractive quarters in the former Prussian Royal Stables. They are systematically stored in more than 1000 cabinets and showcases.

A digital database for easy and fast searches was begun in 1991. The work is ongoing.
